Bravo! As a children's book author and publisher, I absolutely agree with your comments! Picture books and the characters within their pages can be wonderful, childhood friends for life! In my experience, publishers are staying away from creating new picture books because they are expensive to produce. Publishers get so focused on producing a 'piece of art' ... that they forget that first and foremost a book must be accessible and affordable.

Good point and well said. As the mother of an eight year old son, I concur with your analysis. Thanks!

Indeed a very good read! Very informative post with pretty good insight on all aspects of the topic! Will keep visiting in future too!

Thank you for all you do to help children discover the world and themselves through books and reading! I was also disturbed by the New York Times article. As a former kindergarten teacher and mom of three, I know how important picture books are for young children.

thanks for sharing this.very informative and interesting,i love all the information that stated on this post.very important to all the kids to show them that they are really taking care off.

Books really help kids know a more about different words, meanings and what it tells you about. This is important for all of us. Books are always the food of the brain.
