Did you see the Room to Read deal in your inbox this morning? We hope at least some of you 33 million Groupon subscribers noticed! For the next five days, Groupon will be running a "deal" on our Girls' Education program—just in time for you to purchase that last minute Mother's Day gift.
Join us and Groupon's G-Team and donate $10, $25, or $125 to help Room to Read’s Girls’ Education program support the education of the next generation of young women in eight developing nations. The deal is being matched by our friends at Atlassian up to $100,000.
What do these amounts translate to on the ground? For every $125, one girl will get a year of comprehensive support for her education and life-skills training. When 500 people sign up for the deal (and we hit the minimum amount of donations needed to make the deal official), it means that at least 40 girls will receive one year of support. Each additional $10 raised will provide two weeks of academic support for one girl.
