Last month, eight teens (ages 15-23) from all around the world gathered in Zambia to embark on Room to Read’s first-ever Teen Trek. Along with their parents (or in some cases, grandparents), Nick, Tegan, Kate, David, Kyle, Rachel, Robert and James spent a week in the Lusaka province, visiting schools and libraries, and learning more about what they can do to support the global education movement.
Their story is a powerful one, and best told through the photos they brought back with them. This photoblog is a taste of exactly that. Our thanks to all of our participants for making the Teen Trek such a success, and to the Room to Read Zambia team for being a gracious host.

Great pics! Ever since I went on a volunteer trip to Honduras and spent several days working to build a library in the middle of the jungle, I've felt strongly that all Western kids should spend time in the developing world. It gives you perspective that you simply can't get anywhere else. I don't think teens would complain about anything if they experienced first hand the daily challenges of life in the developing world. Better yet, they would learn what they can do to change the world for the better! Keep it up Room to Read...

How exciting and refreshing. The teen Trek left an indelible mark on my mind. It's good to think of the Teens as the next generation of World Changers. It was great meeting you guys.
